Called On Stage
Something happened this last weekend that hasn’t happened in two years.
VBS? It rocked
Church Picnic? Made my soul rejoice
I was really excited by both. No, this is something that made my 90’s bread heart smile. Dave Grohl is the famous front man for the band Foo Fighters. During the concert he will often invite a fan up to play his guitar during their biggest hit “Monkey Wrench”. This has led to legendary music moments like “Kiss Guy” or, as of a week ago “Lauren”. Why no hyperlinks….unfortunately Dave talks like a sailor who has been at sea a LONG time. So, if you are going looking, I’ll let you decide the appropriate use of English for your own tastes.
The point? I want you to think about your favorite band. The one you enjoy listening to the most. The who you have every album for. The one you go see in concert every chance you get. What if they wanted you to be involved? What if they asked you to be up on stage? What if they made you the driving lead of the song? What if they made you the center of the spotlight?
You would grab that guitar and give it your best wouldn’t you?
You would talk about that moment for the rest of your life?
We worship a God who called to you.
A God who invites you to every concert. – John 15:16
A God who paid for the stage, hands you the guitar and invites you up to rock with Him. – Romans 6:5
A God who made you the driving reason for His life, death, and resurrection. 2 Peter 1:3
A God who gives to you the spotlight, while maintaining control of the performance. Matthew 28:16-20
Every Wednesday and Sunday we praise His name.
Every day you are invited to be His hands, His feet, and His mouth.
He has even given you your gifts and talents.
So let me ask you?
Are you ready to rock?
“That is one of the great things about music. You can sing a song to 85,000 people and they will sing it back for 85,000 different reasons.” – Dave Grohl
One Song, millions of people with different reasons.
One Grace, One Faith, One God
“This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” – 1 Timothy 2:4
Who uses you to sing His song to far more than 85,000 people
Grab your instruments; because God has a purpose for you.
We’re on a mission from God.
