Anime, Orbs, Purgatory, and Pipe Fitting

Steve Skiver   -

That’s a great title isn’t it?  Sometimes inspiration appears out of nowhere, and sometimes it appears on the fifth rewrite. While the title has little to do with this devotion, it helped me to refocus.

Epiphany is January 6. The Light of the world revealed to the gentiles. Wise men from the east bringing gifts and searching for the King of the Jews, troubling Herod and all Jerusalem.  Read Matthew 2. There has been speculation for centuries on what and how the wise men knew about the King of the Jews; along with the Matthew account we are given by St Paul this:

He made known to us the mystery of his will in keeping with his good purpose, which he planned in Christ. This was to be carried out when the time had fully come, in order to bring all things together in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth.

While Paul was writing this in a slightly different context, it is in line with the totality of salvation history… “He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world…”

The Holy Spirit uses people and the things of this world to reveal the mystery. The Wise Men knew what they knew because of God’s plan for you: your inheritance; redemption, forgiveness of sins, and life.

Even today faithful and wise men are fulfilling that plan. They use their gifts searching, sharing, and yes, even troubling; keeping with Jesus’ good purpose. While there is speculation on why these wise men know anime, orbs, purgatory, and pipe fitting, be assured they trust the Savior more. Search for the wise men, and find Jesus. Jesus the Light of the world!

Thank you wise men. I am including all of you wise men that know where the title of this devotion comes from.

Trust the Promises,

Steve Skiver
