Snowflake

Dan Howard   -

It looks like winter is coming back to Michigan. It’s been cold, but we really have not had much in the way of snow.

But it is coming. The forecast doesn’t have a lot, but after a long absence it is back.

Now we could talk about how you are uniquely made, just like every snowflake.
Or, we could talk about how God takes your sin and makes you whiter than snow.
Or, we could talk about the beauty of creation.
We could even talk about how we, like snowflakes are only here for a brief time
If I was really honest with you, I could tell you that there are some people I groan at when I see them, just like snow….and some people inwardly I just want to a salt (like the roads…get it get it……yeah….dad joke…sigh…. )

But today I want you to think about a snowflakes journey

It begins tens of thousands of feet above the ground and falls anywhere from 1 to 6 feet a second. Normally it can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 60 minutes from cloud to sky, but the longest recorded drop was dancing on the wind nearly two hours! That is one lazy snowflake!

Snow has a starting point, and it has an ending. It finally comes to rest somewhere. Just like us it begins its own unique journey, and from beginning to end there are dozens of different variable and factors, but the one certain truth is that it will eventually come to rest.

You are on a journey to. Some parts may seem like a dance, and then a gust of wind comes and you are tumbling end over end, whipping and whistling, and uncertain of where you are and where you are going. Much like snow however, God gave you a starting point and an ending point, and all the things in the middle are opportunities to make others marvel at the Creator.

So today, as you journey on, I give one of my favorite Proverbs. From chapter 2:6-10 (ESV)

For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
guarding the paths of justice
and watching over the way of his saints.
Then you will understand righteousness and justice
and equity, every good path;
10 for wisdom will come into your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul

May we be found seeking knowledge together, around the Scripture, soon.
