In That Day
I thought I would take time and ask how your Lenten meditation is going? Did you give up something for Lent? (And stick to it?) Did you do something for Hope’s “Give It Up, Give It Away” campaign? Did Lent just completely get away from you? Take some time to refocus. Last year during Lent, I composed a series of Lenten meditations of original poetry based on scriptures. This year, my artistic and creative processes are being utilized on other projects. It is time for reflection through poetry, not mine though… The following is the Old Testament lesson for this coming Sunday, Isaiah 12.
In that day you will say:
I will give thanks to you, Lord,
for though you were angry with me,
your anger has turned away,
and you comfort me.
Surely God is my salvation.
I will trust him and will not be afraid,
because Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song,
and he has become my salvation.
Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
In that day you will say:
Give thanks to the Lord! Proclaim his name.
Declare among the peoples what he has done.
Proclaim that his name is exalted!
Sing to the Lord, for he has done amazing things!
Let this be known in all the earth!
Shout aloud and sing for joy, daughter of Zion,
for the Holy One of Israel is great among you!

In that day? That day is today. As the author of Hebrews says, “Exhort one another every day, as long as it is called ‘today,’ that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ.” (Hebrews 3:13-14 EHV)
