A Changing Season
Labor Day weekend often marks a change in the season. The days are starting to get noticeably shorter. The nights are cooler. Leaves are starting to yellow. The kids are back in school, and the flip flops have found their way into the closet. I like summer a lot. I absolutely love fall. No, it is not because I am pumpkin spice fan…though I do love a good bonfire. No, for me it is the falling back into routine. The kids are in school, people find there way back into church and until next June, my life becomes busy, but predictable. The older I get the more I appreciate the predictability. Perhaps that is why I enjoy Psalm 90 so much.
Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
From everlasting to everlasting.
Unchanging, eternal, reliable, dependable.
And what is unchanging…the Lord is our dwelling place.
In a back to school, back to church season, God is and continues to be our one true home.
Dwell on that for a few minutes my friends, and then say a prayer of thanksgiving for all that God is. If you want a place to meditate on, I would recommend you read Hebrews. It’s not an easy book to read, but if you have any questions, reach out to me. I would be happy to help.
From Hebrews 1:10-12
“You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed.1 But you are vthe same, and your years will have no end.”
Have a blessed weekend my friends. The season will come and go, but the Lord is steadfast in His love for you.
