No Debate Needed

So, a sign popped up in my neighborhood. It read:

JESUS FOR PRESIDENT
2024

And I think I understand the spirit behind it. But what I am really thankful for is the position that Jesus Christ fills. Simply put, you don’t vote for a king! Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. We can vote all we want to, but in this instance, our vote does not count. That baby lying in the manger was destined to inherit the throne of David—even more, to be raised up to the throne above all thrones and to reign absolute. He was born, that we might be born again. Take a look at Philippians 2: 5-11.

5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

He is the king of all, and what does he do with that kingship? What was the purpose of his rule? To bring forth a pardon that only a king could bring. Despite all my failures and all my sins, He pardons me.  More than that, I know that on the last day, judgement day, what my verdict will be thanks to that pardon. Pardoned by the King; and nothing can change that!

This year there will be a lot to vote about. There will be things to vote for and things to vote against. Voting is an important part of our civic duty. But rest assured that there is one thing you will never have to vote for. Jesus Christ is the Son of God; King of all….and is our savior.

Hail to the king,
